What makes our Mountain Places here in the North Carolina Mountains so special?  I believe it is our “Laid Back Lifestyle^TM.”

This is a question which comes up quite often and there are many reasons to move here or have a second home.  This is one of the USA’s favorite retirement areas according to Newsweek magazine ad USA Today.

This area offers a huge assortment of lifestyle activities as well as four glorious seasons to experience and a myriad of special events that bring resort tourists as well as folks looking for that special second home they can use and enjoy seasonally until they retire or simply use as an investment. Our unique mountain village atmosphere of Blowing Rock and the towns of Boone with The ASU University and Valle Crucis, with its River and horse farms, make it very special, just to name a few

However, let’s get back to the question.  Our answer could be the activities: skiing, snowboarding, hiking, kayaking, mountain climbing, camping, spelunking, river rafting, festivals, music events, college sports or simply shopping and antiquing along the way through our three counties: Watauga, Avery and Ashe in Northwest North Carolina.

I have a great story of a lady who asked me, you’re humble Realtor, to help her find the perfect Mountain Place here in the High Country.  On our first day while driving to a list of homes we had selected for her to see, she asked me the question, “Why did you move here from Florida after having a home in Lake Mary and New York City?” I responded with my main reason which was to live the “Laid Back Life^TM“ I was seeking.

Her response was “I love the vistas and I don’t really like or understand the people.” Obviously I was taken back and said, “Why not rent and look at the mountains before you make such a large commitment.” The truth be told, why move if you cannot use your mountain home?

I love the people here in the mountains along with so many other reasons that I would love to share with you sometime. There has never been a better time to buy if you have a need or a quest for a “Laid Back Lifestyle^TM“.
